71 Enfield and 52 Haringey fires caused by faulty white goods in last 5 years

71 fires in Enfield and 52 in Haringey were caused by defective white goods in the last five years, new figures show. Data from the London Fire Brigade revealed that across London over 2,000 fires have been caused by faults with white goods such as washing machines, tumble dryers, and dishwashers since 2011. Local London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney AM is backing a campaign by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) which aims to make it easier for Londoners to protect themselves from faulty white goods. Ms McCartney said the government must “act urgently” to “protect Londoners, protect consumers, and save millions of pounds for the capital’s economy.”

Joanne McCartney AM celebrates Haringey’s food growing pupils at City Hall

School children from Rokesly Junior School visited City Hall last week to celebrate food growing schools in London. Rokesly Junior School, who were welcomed by Local London Assembly Member, Joanne McCartney AM, took home a prize for the most enterprising product with their pumpkin chutney and marmalade. The Schools Marketplace at City Hall is in its fourth year and enables school children across London to sell produce that they have grown at school.
