At a meeting earlier this year, the Govia team sought to reassure me that services would improve, yet services seem to have declined with cancellations and delays becoming more commonplace. It was conveyed by the Govia team at the meeting that they were facing a problem with driver recruitment, and were 30-40 drivers short but have plans in place to recruit additional drivers.
I have asked Govia to provide me with an explanation for the causes of this problem and what is being done to improve it. I also requested an update on the proposal for the closure of ticket offices following the consultation earlier this year. I will continue to keep you updated when I receive a response.
