The plans for the Tottenham Hale station upgrade were detailed in papers for yesterday’s TfL Finance and Policy committee meeting. The ambitious scheme, estimated to cost £32 million is due for completion in 2018 and will include a full-scale refurbishment of the ticket office area. Proposals have also been made for the installation of a new lift and footbridge to Hale Village and a new escalator and stairway which I have called for repeatedly and raised with the Mayor of London and TfL.
This is about providing better opportunities for local people. Tottenham Hale has been identified as a major growth area in London, but if we are to achieve our ambitious plans, it is essential that we are well connected to the rest of London and beyond.
I welcome the additional funding which finally brings step-free access to people travelling from the Hale Village development. I would urge TfL to work with the local community to keep them well informed and listen to any concerns they may have.
