I am delighted to see that the temporary W7 bus stop outside Boots the Chemist on Muswell Hill roundabout has become a permanent feature after a six month trial proved popular. This has enabled passengers with mobility issues to access the W7 which was previously difficult and unsafe due to the steep hill that the original bus stop was located on.
I was alerted to this problem early on by the Hornsey Pensioners Action Group who have been campaigning for this change for a long time and deserve a huge thanks for all their work on it. In addition to writing to TfL, I asked the Mayor of London at Mayor’s Question Time to instruct TfL to look into this issue and examine alternatives, and attended site visits with TfL and Haringey Council. One of my questions to the Mayor is below.
After much lobbying, I was glad to see TfL launch a public consultation last autumn and I am pleased that a successful solution has now been found.
Due to the popularity of the W7 bus stop relocation, TfL have also agreed to a trial period for the 144 bus route in the autumn which should also make this route more accessible for a number of residents.
