Today, one billion people worldwide will be raising awareness of the shocking statistics for violence against women. I am proud to say that here at City Hall, the Chair of the London Assembly Jennette Arnold is hosting an event in the Chamber at 2pm which I will be attending.
On V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 14 February 2013, the global activist movement are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to violence against women.
One in three women in the world – one billion in total – are victims of violence at some point in their lifetime.
Domestic Violence Statistics
•8% reported incidents end in prosecution (2012/11)
•3% rape attackers brought to justice
