Hopes for greening Grange Park railway embankment

Local Assembly Member Joanne McCartney is continuing her efforts to bring greenery back to Grange Park after Network Rail stripped the area of natural beauty.

Earlier this year Network Rail razed to the ground a woodland near the railway tracks inGrangePark,Enfieldto the dismay and anger of local residents and the local Council.

The London Assembly Environment Committee have recently launched an investigation looking at greening railway embankments, and are visiting the spoiled area at GrangePark.

Joanne said “I’m delighted the Environment Committee have recognised that this is an issue that matters to Londoners, and we will be visiting Grange Park on a site visit on Monday and I will share the concerns that residents raised with me.”

Joanne is also seeking an update from the Mayor of London, who eventually agreed to instruct his officers to talk to Network Rail about their drastic actions at GrangePark.

Joanne said “The Mayor initially didn’t take this matter seriously, but I hope that now the London Assembly is working on Network Rail’s cavalier approach to maintaining green spaces that he will up his game on this issue.”
